چکیده
This atlas presents cross-sectional anatomy of human embryos from the first to eighth weeks of life, the time period when most structural relationships are made and most major teratologic changes will have occurred. It is an area of embryology that is not readily accessible from an illustrative standpoint. This volume is an excellent attempt to correct this deficiency. The method of presentation is a combination of line drawings with appropriate summations and changes for each of the first eight weeks of development, followed by a detailed presentation of cross sections of the embryo at each stage. The histologic sections are well labeled for orientation. The only significant problem seems to be that the printing of many of the histologic sections has resulted in some blurring and over-inking which lessens the impact of the sections. This is an excellent book for the medical student interested in the more detailed study of early embryonic relationships as well as for the human anatomist and embryologist interested in a more concise presentation of early anatomical changes and their particular relevance to teratologic change.

متن کاملMechanisms of immune evasion by tumors.
In the past decade, basic studies in animal models have begun to elucidate the physiological barriers which impede a successful antitumor immune response. These barriers operate at a number of levels, and involve the tumor, the tumor microenvironment and various components of the innate and adaptive immune systems. In this review, we discuss the multiple mechanisms by which tumors evade an immu...
